The Computer Science and Engineering School (CSES) is the first department in Tianjin to establish a computer undergraduate major. After more than 40 years of development and construction, it has formed a three-level talent training system for undergraduates, masters and doctors. There are currently doctoral programs and post-doctoral research stations in the first-level disciplines of computer science and technology, as well as 3 first-level discipline master's programs and 5 undergraduate majors; Computer Science and Technology, Cyberspace Security, and Software engineering are the three key Disciplines of Tianjin. Among them, Computer Science and Technology was selected into Tianjin's First-Class Discipline (2017) and Top Discipline (Cultivation) Plan (2021). There are two Tianjin characteristic discipline groups, New Generation Artificial Intelligence Technology and System and Network Security and Big Data. There is one Tianjin Industrial Characteristic Discipline Group - Network Security and Intelligent Data. Now, we have Computer Virus Prevention Technology National Engineering Laboratory, Computer Vision and System Ministry of Education Key Laboratory, Learning Intelligent System Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center, Intelligent Computing and Software New Technology Tianjin Key Laboratory and other research platforms; two majors of computer science and technology and information security were selected as the first batch of national first-class majors; "Digital Image Processing" , "Data Structures and Algorithms" and "Computer Network Principle" are national first-class course; "Audio-visual Perception Control Robot for Artificial Intelligence Technology" is a national virtual simulation experimental teaching project.
In the past five years, CSES has undertaken more than 100 vertical and horizontal projects such as key research and development of the Ministry of Science and Technology, national natural key points, outstanding youth, military-civilian integration, and various national-level projects. We have won 15 national and provincial science and technology awards, published more than 300 high-level papers, and published 26 monographs and textbooks.
CSES currently has 134 faculty members and nearly 3,000 full-time students, including more than 600 postgraduate students and more than 60 doctoral students.
